FOREWORD

Dear Colleagues!
This volume of “Advances in Immunopathology & Respiratory Allergy” presents you a selection of reports delivered at the III World Congress on Immunopathology and Respiratory Allergy organized by the World Immunopathology Organization (WIPO) in Pattaya, Thailand on February 5-8, 2005.
The problem of allergy, asthma and immunopathology is of global character. Every year the prevalence rate of this pathology is increasing both in adult and children population. The life longevity is diminishing while the quantity of chronic cases and recurrency rate rise sharply. The same is true for the mortality rate of patients with such pathology. That is why, development and implementation of new diagnostics and treatment methods is crucial in this situation. They would not only reduce the recurrency rate, these novel methods would also increase the remission duration. It is one of the most vital problem of contemporary medicine. Advances of modern medical science as well as concerted efforts of various specialists – allergologists, immunologists, pediatricians, pulmonologists, specialists in cellular and molecular biology, etc. – would contribute a lot to solve these problems.
The world’s leading experts from Europe, Asia, America and Australia in the field of allergy, asthma and immunopathology accepted our invitation and attended the III World Congress on Immunopathology and Respiratory Allergy. Some of their reports presented at the Congress are published in this volume.
I sincerely hope that these papers will allow you to obtain new information on the recent advances in the basic knowledge and clinical management of allergy, asthma and immunopathology.
